I am back in full swing — sorry for the long pause here on my blog. The end of last year was crazy for me. I had more going on with my personal life and business then I ever care to repeat. The good news is that 2018 is off to a good start, and I am so excited about this year. Our company has done some amazing things over the years, but we haven’t launched a disruptive product since the early days of EFB (electronic flight bag).
This year our team is going for it! We are ecstatic that both the market timing and the innovation from our team at Comply365 has aligned into what I think will be the perfect product to drive the next wave of digital transformation.
What has been an interesting learning experience for me is that we had this idea 3 years ago, but the problem was super complex to solve and we needed the market to work with us on solving it. But, they just weren’t ready.
I have been talking for years about how disruption like digital transformation will come in waves, but it seems like this next wave has taken a long time to reach us. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that regulated industries are just slow to change, as well as having a lean workforce that has a lot of daily duties that distract them from focusing on the future.
We are just scratching the surface of what is possible. Some friends (clients) and I were recently together at a conference when one of them said, “A PDF is not paperless!” We all laughed at how true that statement is, so I am going to use that this year. If we truly want to transform, we need to deliver smart data and get out of the world of PDFs. To do that, we need a new way to author and edit. It must work for the enterprise and multiple OEMs with different schemas.
Oh, and this one small detail: It must be simple to use.
My team has cracked the code, and we are ecstatic to have a premier partner launching this new product with us (they shall remain nameless until we do the big reveal). But they are innovators, and when it comes to the world of authoring, smart content and standards, they are thought leaders.
Stay tuned to the blog as I’m traveling the world and talking about the next wave of digital disruption. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of funny travel stories and engaging pieces on what I am hearing from the global market.
