You know how it feels to be crazy busy, working so many extra hours, arranging special details to make things special for your guests?
This week is exciting for me.
The office is buzzing with final prep for our annual users’ conference, Connections365. Next week we will host around 200 clients, potential clients, and business and community leaders from around the world. They will converge for a high-energy, two-day tech conference in Beloit, WI. We can’t wait! However, we all know that successful events are those where the planning, the preparation and execution all come together to create a great experience – hundreds of hours to mind the details.
When we started the conference five years ago, I felt it was important to bring my kids every year so that they could see the growth of the company and everything that we were building. The first year, when we had about 35 people attend, my son must have been 12 years old. My son showed up in a shirt and tie and walked around shaking everyone’s hands saying, “Hi, I am Aaron Frank. Are you a client or a potential client?” If they would say, “A client,” he would respond, “Thank you so much for being a client. Our family really appreciates your business.” If they would answer, “Potential,” he would say, “You should really become a client. My mom works really hard, and you don’t know what you’re missing.”
I had no clue he had been “working the room” all night. Everyone was so impressed. The only way I found out was when people started coming up to me to tell me how impressed they were with my kids. It was one of those “proud parent” moments, the kind that let you know your hard work is paying off. Our kids have always been a part of this company. How thrilling for me to know that Aaron took initiative and understood the importance of appreciating and thanking clients for their business. It does mean a lot to my family. Our clients are like family. They are part of the story. In terms of salesmanship, Aaron was bursting with pride about our solutions and knows how they can make a difference for our clients.
This year’s conference is no exception, with a week packed with inspiration and thought-provoking sessions. Perhaps it’s more fitting than ever – we know that people are at the heart of digital transformation. Empowering people with digital technologies in a vibrant, digital workplace can make an incredible difference. I can’t wait to welcome our clients and friends and to meet new ones to work together to change the world.
